Welcome from the Pastor

Thanks for “clicking” our way! I’m glad you have chosen to take a look at First Baptist Church Round Rock to see what is going on here. And let me say, there is a lot going on! God is blessing us beyond our ability to imagine! We claim the verse in Ephesians 3:20 which says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.” (NAS) At FBCRR, His promise is becoming a reality for us!

Our mission statement says, “The First Baptist Church of Round Rock exists to glorify God by becoming more like Jesus Christ and sharing His love with everyone.” This is what we are “all about.” Our desire is to grow in our likeness to Christ and to minister to the spiritual needs of our community and world.

What is our church like? This is a question I am often asked. Having led this church as pastor since 1992, I would describe our congregation as friendly, down-to-earth people who really love God and each other. We have lots of children! Our youth ministry is growing rapidly. We have strong young adult, median adult, and senior adult divisions. We are really “across the board” in age groups.

Many of our congregation work in the “tech” industry here in our area. Many are teachers, medical personnel, service industry workers, management, small business owners, etc. We come from all walks of life. We have members from a variety of cultural backgrounds. In short, our congregation is just a good cross-section of the Round Rock community.

We are a family church with a strong commitment to “under 18” age-group ministries. We have a preschool minister, a children’s minister, and a student minister. Each of these are full-time and dedicated to his or her particular age group. We have strong children’s and youth choir programs. On Wednesday evenings, our campus is filled with kids for AWANA. Upward Basketball draws over 500 kids in the community each January and February.

And what do you have for adults? We have a full time recreation, singles and college director who leads these growing ministries. We have a MOPS program, special Bible studies such as Precepts and Women of the Word, “Elderberries” for older adults, just to name a few. We have an active missions program, a men’s and a women’s ministry. Lest I leave something out, I will refer you to the ministries pages of this website for the details.

What about your worship style? Let me answer that in two ways. Our Sunday morning services are of a “blended” worship style drawing on the best of both traditional and contemporary music. We have many visitors who tell us that FBCRR’s Sunday services are “like church was for me back home.” We like to refer to it as a “familiar style” .

Thanks for stopping by. Take time to browse and feel free to contact me if you have questions (gbrinkley@fbcrr.org).

At First Baptist Church we often say, “the best is yet to come!”
