We have many opportunities to  be a part of an Alaskan Mission Trip. We are partnering with Alaska Missions for 3 trips to Alaska. An interest meeting will be held on December 4th, at 5:00pm in the FLC Parlor.

Our first trip will take place March 3-9th with the possibility of offering a second week depending on interest level.

We will work with Alaskan missionaries at one of Alaska's signature events. The Iditarod Sled Dog Race is a 1049 mile race across Alaska from Anchorage to Nome. Share Christ by pulling your own sled through the crowds with a Mush to Life booklet and a cup of hot cocoa in the name of Jesus. Share your story and the story of Hope in Christ to the thousands of people who come out for this annual event. We partner with local churches to make contacts at the Ceremonial Start in Anchorage and the Iditarod Official Start Committee on frozen Willow Lake.

Bring your long-johns and join Alaska Missions in its eleventh year at the Iditarod finish line. The task is two-fold: reach the Native culture as well as the musher sub-culture of Alaska.  You will cheer on mushers crossing the finish line, permeate the volunteer force of the Iditarod, go door to door delivering Bible-in-a-bucket to the community. Host the  concession stand at the Lonnie O'Conner Iditarod Basketball Classic, prayer walk, minister to village elders and host a kid's club. The ministry opportunities are endless. While in Nome, experience Muskox and other wildlife and if conditions are right the northern lights!

Our third trip will take place July 25th-Aug 2nd, 2017

Who:  This is a great mission trip for students and adults.

What:  With the help of Alaska Missions, you will have an opportunity to be inserted onto one of three beaches - North Beach, South Beach, or Kasilof Beach - and reach out to Alaskan people right where they live.  Volunteers from all over the United States will come into Alaska, where they will be prepared to go to these beaches and shine the light of Jesus into the darkness that is there.

On those beaches, under the “Big White Tent” you will give away hot dogs, bottles of water, cups of hot chocolate or lemonade (depending on the weather!) and Bibles. Faces of children will be painted. Bible stories will be taught. Bounce houses will be bouncing. But more importantly, an atmosphere of godly love and care will be powerfully present among the men, women, and children who are on those beaches.

When:  July 25th to August 2nd

How:   Travel will be by flight from Austin to Anchorage.  Once in Anchorage we will take a van down to the Kenai Pennisula.

Cost:     Approximate cost is $1300 including airfare.

              $600 airfare

              $650 Alaska Missions

$50Extra costs (items you will need for the trip)

NOTE ON EXPENSES:   The information packet says to mail payments directly to Alaska Missions.  We will be paying our fees to First Baptist Church Round Rock and the church will be writing a check for each payment to Alaska Missions.  The first payment of $200 is due by February 28th.
